Spectrum Courses is a family business, founded from a kitchen table discussion to try to improve and standardise training for Drivers and Passenger Assistants who work in Home to School transport across England and Wales.
Spectrum intended to close a serious safeguarding loophole in Home to School Transport to help protect pupil passengers, and to protect Home to School Transport crews from false accusations.
Using her background as a television reporter, our founder Jane Saggers and her daughter led a small team to produce video-led training courses which would enable our demographic of trainees to learn properly about their role: to properly safeguard some of the most vulnerable children in society today and to understand the behaviours and anxieties around the special educational needs and disabilities they face.
Working in conjunction with some of the country’s leading SEND professionals, we produced the UK’s first certified & accredited training course for this sector.
Our focus included lobbying MPs in Parliament to standardise training across the country and brought recognition for our efforts with leading industry training awards.
